What Does The Consultation Process Involve?

The consultation aims to help the individual understand their current health issues and suggests dietary changes which assist the body towards an improved state of health.

Making Sense of the Current Health Picture

Part of the consultation process involves understanding the current state of health by taking a detailed case history which builds a holistic health picture of the individual.

During the consultation, the case history will be analysed which involves making connections to symptoms and health. It is important to bear in mind, that the case interpretation is not a medical diagnosis but may be used to promote understanding of how the body has come to present specific imbalances.

To help make sense of what is happening in the body, the Natural Nutrition interpretation combines a scientific understanding of the working of the body with holistic principles drawn from traditional Chinese Five Element theory and naturopathy.

The Chinese Five Element theory connects aspects of the physical body to the mind, emotions and the environment and is a useful model to understand the body as a whole.

Naturopathy has the belief that ‘the body never works against itself’ and that it has a natural ability to rebalance and regenerate. Symptoms are seen as the end-result of an imbalance and not the cause! The naturopathic model is useful for analysing the progression of symptoms and uses restorative techniques which help the body to cleanse and rebalance its functioning.

"The case interpretation aims to raise awareness that the body is not creating random symptoms and is actually doing the best it can to cope with the situation at a given point in time"
